A copyright gives the creator of an original work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time. Copyright may apply to a wide range of creative,
intellectual, or artistic forms, or “works”.
Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry,
novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the
way these things are expressed.
Registered copyright object is protected in UAE through lifetime of author and fifty years beginning from the first day of the calendar year following the death.
The economic rights of the authors of collective works except the authors of applied arts shall be protected for a period of fifty years beginning from the first
day of the next calendar year of the first publication in case that the author is a legal person but in case that the author is a natural person, the period will
be calculated according to the rule stipulated in UAE Copyright Law.
